held at Hotel Residency, Coimbatore during June 26-27, 2012.
Themes
The following were the themes of the Workshop:
- Sugarcane Improvement: Varieties for the future
- Ways and means of improving sugarcane productivity: Problems and prospects
- Mechanizing operations and improving Water-use efficiency in sugarcane farming: Needed initiatives
- Towards a healthy sugarcane crop: Managing diseases & Pests
- Innovations in knowledge transfer mechanisms and Policy Initiatives for sustainable sugarcane production: Challenges and opportunities
Participation
About
250 delegates comprising scientists from various research institutions, senior
– level functionaries from various sugar factories and allied enterprises from across
the country, officers from the Directorates of Sugar & other Cane Development
organizations and agri-business representatives participated in the Workshop.
Exhibition
Exhibition stalls were put up by various
agencies viz., Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd., State Bank of India, Trans-Mech
systems, Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd., IFFCO / IFFCO-TOKIO,
Netafim irrigation, Jain Irrigation and Green field equipment and a display of
popular sugarcane varieties was also arranged at the Workshop venue.
